Ever since I started writing up little niche market websites the most amazing thing has happened. All of a sudden, I am learning all kinds of things about stuff I never even knew I was interested in! I mean, my goodness, all of a sudden I have to study up on how to plant grass seed, and how to plant an organic garden. I have always had an interest in gardening and organic gardening in particular, but when you have to write about it, you suddenly find out all kinds of things you didn’t know about the subject. And once you get started in organic gardening, well then mulching and worm farms aren’t very far behind. You start getting interested in one thing and before you know it – you find yourself spending the evening finding out how to setup a shade garden or which kinds of worms make the best compost.
Because I am very interested in doing a variety of sites about things that I think young people who are in their first home might need to know – suddenly I am learning how to install a hardwood floor or what you need to pick out a good gas grill for your back yard.
Did you know that you can install something called vinyl plank flooring and it looks just like wood but it isn’t? It is fake wood, stronger and cheaper than regular hardwood, with a top layer that is only a photo of the wood, and you can’t even really tell the difference. Except, of course, when you go to pay for it and it is about a third the cost of regular hardwood flooring. Did you know that they can make flooring out of bamboo and it is beautiful and really sturdy and long lasting? Well, neither did I until I had to learn about all of this to make the site.
I must admit – I was not thinking that this was what I would gain from learning to do these little niche websites, but then life can be full of surprises.
